Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, Inc. Professional Development Department

Trainer Highlight

We would like to introduce a new trainer and training!  Meet Rachel, founder, director and instructor at the Harmony Garden Music Center located in Hopewell Junction.  The Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, Inc. recently collaborated with Rachel to bring her love of music and early childhood education to our professional development opportunities.

Rachel will be offering a training titled Music & Movement: Super Food for the Child’s Brain in the upcoming months.  Music and movement have the unique ability to engage the entire brain, nurturing every area of growth and development. Together we will learn the science behind these benefits and explore how you can use music and movement in your classroom. Get ready to sing and dance along as we explore how music and movement nurture three big developmental areas:

  • Social and emotional development
  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Language, communication, and literacy

Caregivers of children from birth through twelve years of age will gain musical teaching tools - no musical experience or “skills” required!

Rachel brings with her years of education including a Bachelors in music education from Moravian College and a Masters from Kent State University. Rachel discovered the joy of early childhood education and earned her Kindermusik Educator license in 2012.  The Harmony Garden was born from piano lessons in Rachel’s living room. As Director of The Harmony Garden, she is honored to have the opportunity to bring the arts into the lower Dutchess area and to mentor a phenomenal team of fellow teachers and musicians.
