Public Education Overview

Since its inception in 1970, the Child Care Council has advocated for the well-being of children and families by communicating with policy makers, businesses, community agencies, and other groups and individuals.

The Council has also worked with parents and child care providers to help them advocate and bring about change on key issues.

The Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, Inc. (CCCDP) urges parents and people in the early care and education field to keep abreast of emerging needs/issues on local, state, and national levels.   • The National After School Association is the leading voice of the after school profession dedicated to development, education, and care of children and youth during their out of school hours.

  • The National Association for Family Child Care is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care. National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies

  • Child Care Aware of America is the nation's leading voice for child care, working with over 700 state and local Child Care Resource and Referral agencies nationwide, to help ensure that families have access to high-quality, affordable child care.

  • NAEYC is dedicated to improving the well being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age eight.

  • National Head Start Association is a private, not for profit membership organization dedicated exclusively to meeting the needs of head start children and their families.

  • The NWLC is an organization devoted to improving the lives of women through legal means, and focuses on issues such as child care, family support, and early education with special emphasis on ways to expand public and private financing.

  • The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) is charged by State Law to regulate, license/register and monitor those child care settings that meet the State definition of child day care.

  • Prevent Child Abuse NY is a non-profit organization with a statewide commitment to prevent child abuse in all forms. Prevent Child Abuse NY promotes and initiates efforts to develop, improve and expand services and effective policies to prevent abuse and neglect.
