Building Blocks to Creativity: Empowering Loose Parts Play
In this training participants will explore loose parts play, its origin and benefits. This style of play involves providing children with a variety of open-ended, movable materials that stimulate creativity, problem-solving, and cognitive development. The benefits of loose parts play include fostering imagination, enhancing fine and gross motor skills, promoting social interaction, and building confidence as children engage in self-directed play. We will explore safety concerns also discussing NYS child care regulations. Participants will take with them effective implementation strategies including extensive ideas of diverse materials, creating flexible play spaces, encouraging collaboration, and integrating loose parts into both structured and unstructured activities.
